02Braelon Allen → Screamin' Scoobies (1-2) — $31
The night's top bid, and it bought the other starting running back. Bill's 1-2 Dolphins-fan squad paid $31 for Braelon Allen and cut Rashod Bateman — a player they'd added off the wire exactly one week earlier. The circle of life, but with FAAB. The facts: Breece Hall is week-to-week with a quad injury (Rapoport; the MRI brought "good news," but nobody expects Hall in Week 4 against the Bears). Allen took over the Jets' final two drives, played all 17 snaps after Hall exited, and logged a 64% route share in that sample. Third-stringer Isaiah Davis played zero offensive snaps. The caveat, and it's real: the Week 4 opponent is the Bears defense that just held Saquon Barkley to 82 yards and humiliated the Eagles on Monday night.
The verdict: GOOD VALUE, slight overpay. Thirty-one dollars was the most anyone spent all night, and it's a lot for what might be a two-week rental against a defense that just ate Philadelphia alive. The production is undeniable: 6 catches, 90 yards and a 41-yard touchdown on Monday night, a WR1 weekly finish, 21.0 PPR points — his second 15+ PPR game in three weeks — and the Bears' team lead in receiving at 214 yards. The context is terrifying: Caleb Williams is out with a Grade 2 hamstring strain, so Raymond's quarterback is 38-year-old Case Keenum, making his first start since December 2023, and the target competition (Burden, Odunze, Loveland) isn't going anywhere.
The verdict: RISKY. The tape is real but the situation is a prayer, and $30 is starter money for a team's WR3. Here's the number that should haunt the 0-3 commissioner's office: Elliot paid one dollar MORE for Raymond than Scott paid for Ollie Gordon II. A starting NFL quarterback for $10 is objectively fine.
Everything else about it is not. Gritty's already rosters Drake Maye and Trevor Lawrence. Gritty's is 0-3 with the thinnest running back room in the league — and that room just got thinner, with Travis Etienne out multiple weeks on a hamstring strain. This team held the No. 1 waiver priority into Tuesday evening, and last night's preview had them spending it on Gordon or Allen. Instead the morning shows a third quarterback, while both bellcow replacements wear someone else's colors. The verdict: QUESTIONABLE. Right player, wrong roster, wrong situation. At 0-3, you don't buy insurance for a house that's already on fire — you buy a hose.
05The small moves
- Screamin' Scoobies (1-2) — Steelers DEF ($3), dropped 49ers. Defense streaming. Three dollars, no notes. (Amusing footnote: Marnie dropped these same Steelers for the Chiefs a week ago. One manager's trash, etc.)

Biggest loser: Comrade Gritty's (0-3). Winless, broken backfield, the No. 1 priority in hand — and the night's business was a $10 third quarterback. Both top backs went to teams ahead of them in the standings. The season is on life support, and the wire was the defibrillator they left in the box.
What to watch in Week 4: Gordon gets the Vikings' run defense in his first start. Allen gets the Bears — the same Bears defense Raymond just torched for 90 and a score — and Raymond faces the Jets in that same game, so the league's two biggest adds line up on opposite sidelines of one matchup. Somebody's $30 is going to look a lot smarter by the final whistle.
Waivers run again next Wednesday. Set your claims, set your alarms, and remember: the difference between $29 and $30 was the difference between the night's best value and its biggest question mark.
